How To: Spend A Day With Chien Teng

Ever since my guide on camwhoring, I’ve been itching to get onto another How To post. Initially, this post was meant to be titled How To: Make A Super-Awesome-Cool-Shiny-Funky-Pretty-Sexy-Wonderful-Amazing-Extraordinary-Phantasmal Hair Clip.

But, it was too long.

To get to the point, friends do all sorts of things with one another.

That sounded wrong nevermind ignore that laladida okay I start over.

There are certain friends who do certain things with you. (Still sounds wrong, but it’s okay, you ignore, I ignore) For example, with your best friend, you may have slumber parties, or with your neighbour, you may go rock-climbing, that sort of thing.

Well, what does one do when spending a day with Chien Teng?

First off, allow me to introduce Chien Teng to you.

She’s the one on the right, who’s holding the camera and has a hippie hairband. The one with the stuffed dog is me. In case you didn’t already know that.

And because I am a wonderful blogger who believes in giving you the best reading experience possible, this post will be a two-part post! AND, the first part is..

A HOW TO POST.. IN A HOW TO POST!

*gasps and applause ensue*

How To Make

1. Take the clip and tie the sequins in a knot around one end.

2. Wrap the sequins around the hairclip, being careful not to get them entangled. It’s up to your creativity as to the colour of the sequins, but here, Chien Teng and I have used teal and silver.

3. Once wrapped till the end, secure the sequins with another knot, leaving excess sequins hanging off the end.

4. Cut off any loose sequins and that’s it, you have your own DIY hairclip!

5. Sit back and take admiring pictures of your creation.

How To Wear

The super-awesome-cool-shiny-funky-pretty-sexy-wonderful-amazing-extraordinary-phantasmal thing about this hairclip isn’t just the amount of school holiday boredom this would quell, but also, it is incredibly versatile.

1.GetAttachmentCA9FFK2U

Pinned to your hair, with the excess wrapped around your forehead, this hairclip makes for a very pretty headband. Not only will attention be drawn to the shiny sequins, instead of your big nose and ugly teeth, it keeps your hair in place. Win-win, I say.

2.GetAttachmentCAQ17PW8

This hairclip also works as a back hairclip. It keeps your hair neat and out of your face, with the added benefit of giving an impression of a teal-silver highlight in your hair.

3.

Extremely eye-catching when used to pin hair to the side, the shine of the sequins and the excellent grip of the hairclip is sure to complete your outfit for the day.

PS: Just wondering, if you were interested in buying the original hairclip, how much would you pay? Just asking. :)

And now, onto part two! (because I’m all about quantity over quality, baby)

This post will highlight Chien Teng’s exceeding kindness.

It was clearly shown when she allowed me to camwhore on her bed. With her camera.

On normal occasions, if I were to ask anyone’s permission to camwhore on their bed with their camera, I would be denied. Over and over again.

So, having had the opportunity, I was filled with immense joy and exuberance stemming from that single act of kindness from Chia Chien Teng.

Okay, I lied. Sorry.

Heck, people pay me to have my pictures on their camera. (I wish)

Anyways, what she really did was to bring me along to Hannah Tan’s press conference. (Using her authority as super-cool-exciting blogger) Held in Solaris, upon arrival, we headed for Media Registration where we were given a media pack, containing a short write-up on Hannah, a CD, and various other knick-knacks.

Having aspired to be a journalist at one point, I was really excited when we entered the conference, greeted by this.

Media frenzy, my favourite kind.

The purpose of the press conference was to announce Hannah Tan’s Christmas Concert, a charity performance done by local artistes.

The unique thing about this concert is that instead of paying money for tickets, all one has to do is give a gift suitable for a child aged 5 – 15. The gifts will be distributed to children homes on Christmas.

One of the questions that was brought up during the Q & A session was regarding what kind of gifts to give. To my surprise, toys was the general answer.

Being a child within that age range, I found myself thinking, what is a 12 year old going to be doing with a toy? Sure, there are a few young at heart, but really, what happens if a 15 year old receives a rattle meant for a 5 year old?

And, that’s exactly what I asked Hannah Tan.

In the midst of surprisingly silent professional bloggers and magazine representatives, I, a tag-a-long blogger, raised my hand to ask the question.

In reply, she said that they would collect the gifts according to age. Eg: Gifts for 10 and below, in one box, gifts for 10 and above, in one box.

I then nodded politely and lowered my hand, as other questions were directed to Hannah. Inside, I was bursting with pride and excitement. It was so incredibly cool to be able to do such a thing: ask a celebrity a question at a press conference!

As we left Solaris, it is with a happy sigh that this strange, completely irrelevant thought entered my mind.

SUP_TIFFY

Why doesn’t it topple? It’s defying the laws of stability.

PPS: Hannah Tan’s Charity Concert will be held at 4pm on the 20th of December 2009, Sunday at The Gardens Hotel Ballroom, MidValley.
